Kim Kardashian’s Finally Changes Kimono Shapewear Name to Skims

It hasn’t been long since Kim Kardashian West announces her new name of shapewear line as Kimono

Fans and critics were quick to call out the star for cultural insensitivity because the Kimono, in fact, a traditional Japanese garment that has nothing to do with shapewear whatever. The name ‘Kimono’ he was more than just a fun wordplay on Kardashian’s name.

It’s another for her to try and trademark it, that what is exactly she did. According to the Los Angeles Times, Kimono, Kimono Body, Kimono Intimates, and Kimono World were a few of the trademarks filed band waiting for review, before fans took this issue.

Some fans on Kardashian’s Instagram they comment on her photos with shapewear line ranging from “My culture is not your plaything” to “My culture is not your brand name generator.” They started also sharing pictures of themselves in actual kimonos as a reminder the world about where the name actually originates from. Also the mayor of Kyoto, Japan, Daisaku Kadokawa, wrote a message insist Kardashian reconsider the name.

Kardashian, she was quick to respond to the backlash and shared an honest apology on Twitter. Before she deciding to go in a different direction cause by the brand’s name.

SKIMS Solutionwear™ is coming September 10. she confirms on her Instagram the brand’s name change which was a direct result of that scrutiny.

“I love the idea that these things will be the closest thing to someone’s skin, skimming with perfectly soft and supportive fabrics who emerge the best parts of our bodies,” Kardashian said on Instagram.

“My fans and followers are a big inspiration to me,” she said on Twitter about the change. “I’m always listening to they feedback and opinions, and am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name. After much thought and consideration, I’m excited to announce the launch of SKIMS Solutionwear.”

According to her post, The collection will range beginning at an XXS and ending at a 5XL. it also will be available items such as Shapewear with one leg shorter than the other, designed for clothes with thigh-high slits. For the people who looking for those products, it will be available exclusively at Skims.com.

So far, the issue of changing the name of her brand has been received well by fans. And they comment on social media like, “I love that Kim actually listens and adjusts rather than getting rude and defensive when it comes to her products,” also they said, “I am really proud that you took the feedback to heart and changed your brand name instead of doubling down.”

Many of Kardashian’s friends couldn’t hold their excitement. Model Candice Huffine she said on Instagram “Perfect name! Can’t wait to rock these pieces.” Ashley Graham, she said as well, “I can’t wait to try these.”
