These Indonesian Tribes Have A Rare Genetic Condition That Turns Their Eyes Bright Blue

Indonesia is a beautiful and very special country, located in Southeast Asia and Oceania, between the Indian and Pacific oceans. Has more than 60 thousand islands, like Sumatra, Borneo, Java, New Guinea, and Sulawesi. It is considered to be one of the largest island countries in the world.

Recently a tribe of the small island of Buton in Indonesia has gone viral on social media after some of its members were photographed highlights their bright blue eyes by an Indonesian geologist and photographer called Korchnoi Pasaribu. The people of this tribe have a strange genetic fluke called the Waardenburg syndrome that gives them amazingly bright blue eyes.

Waardenburg syndrome may affect only a single eye and the other brown. “They are very friendly, very welcoming. They are not shy to be photographed,” Pasaribu said.
